What agrees with what

Every one of the 45 scans that fired today, against every other, shaded by how much of their combined list they share. Ordered so that scans measuring the same thing sit together, which is why the blocks appear along the diagonal.

The two closest today are Above the 200-day EMA and Beating the market for 6 months, which share 68% of their combined list. The most independent scan on the site overlaps its own nearest neighbour by only 4%.

Saying the same thing

the pairs with the most overlap today
Holding both of a pair near the top of this table is holding one piece of evidence twice. It is the single easiest way to talk yourself into a position.

Saying something of their own

lowest overlap with their nearest neighbour
These are the scans carrying information the rest of the library does not. Independence is measured against the closest single neighbour, not the average: duplicating one scan exactly is not independence, however unlike the other forty-five it happens to be.
Overlap is not quality. Two scans agreeing tells you they select the same names, not that either is worth following — see Are the scans working? for that. And this is today’s picture: a pair can agree closely in a trending market and barely at all in a falling one.
How these numbers were made. Overlap is the Jaccard index of the two scans’ full hit lists for 10 September 2026, computed from the same run that rendered the rest of the site. Portfolios are recorded on the day they are published and scored forward from that date, so no figure on this page could have been chosen after the outcome was known. The code that produced them is stamped in build.json.
